JOAN OF ARC

The Joan of Arc Project.  I plan to do a series of paintings depicting major events in Joan of Arc's life and to show this as an exhibit. The Center of St. Joan of Arc in New Mexico has been working with me on the project. I was told to find a dark haired girl with brown eyes. While painting inside the Concord Mills Mall by Charlotte, N.C. I noticed this young lady that had this aerial ascending quality about you. She held her self with such grace and seemed at any moment she would rise and fly. She reminded me of that girl writtne in James Joyce, A Portrait of An Artist As A Young Man, where a girl is described while she is standing on the beach looking out to see. Fortunately had I my camera that day and I was able to take a photo of Tia. After discussing the JOA project, Tia agreed to be my model. She is a student at UNC-Charlotte. She is majoring in Dance. Tia has modeled for each scene I plan to paint. I will be beginning the first series of the paintings in about three weeks.
